By WILLIAM LANEY, Managing Editor, Wapakoneta Daily News - Starting Tuesday a new face should be greeting clients and visitors to the Wapakoneta Area Economic Development Council (WAEDC) office. Wapakoneta native Heather Nolte replaced Erin Hollenbacher as assistant director to WAEDC Executive Director Greg Myers. WAEDC board members approved Nolte’s hiring during Wednesday’s meeting.
“I am really excited to bring her on board because she has great technical skills, a lot of computer skills that we need in regard to Web site management and Excel (an accounting program),” Myers said.
“She seems to have very good management skills — she was in charge of a number of things at the church and was able to handle those tasks very, very well.
“She also has a very nice and outgoing personality which is very important here,” he said. “When I am not here, she is the economic development office so it is important for her to be very outgoing, pleasant and very positive and proactive about Wapakoneta.”
He said Nolte seems “very excited about working” at WAEDC. She is scheduled to work 32 hours each week and her first day is Tuesday. Nolte, the daughter of Jan Schlenker and Mike and Joyce Schlenker, served as the secretary at St. Paul United Church of Christ since 2002. She previously worked in human resources and accounts receivable for Worthington Cylinder Corp. in Westerville, from 1995 to 2001. The 1991 Wapakoneta High School graduate earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Capital University in 1995.
Nolte worked a couple of days with Hollenbacher to learn the position. Hollenbacher started working as assistant director in February 2008. She is moving to Columbus with her husband, Derron, and will begin a new position with Cardinal Health.
