Seth Baker, Assistant Director of the Wapakoneta Area Economic Development Council, has announced his departure from the regional economic development agency. Baker has been selected to serve as the new Executive Secretary for the Van Wert County Foundation. The Foundation administers trusts, grants, and bequests for the benefit of county residents. It also oversees the Wassenberg Art Center and provides support for the Niswonger Performing Arts Center. Baker joined the WAEDC staff in May 2013.
“Seth will be greatly missed,” explained WAEDC Executive Director Greg Myers. “He has done an outstanding job as our Assistant Director in the time he has been with us. He has been actively involved in every aspect of our operations, especially from a technology perspective. He has also been our coordinator for corporate site visits, when companies come to look at Wapakoneta,” Myers added.
Baker has also served as the administrator for the Downtown Wapakoneta Partnership, the local agency that works to promote and redevelop the City’s historic downtown. “He played an important part in the implementation of the new Façade Improvement Program,” Myers added. “Seth is passionate about historic downtowns.” Baker was the former director of the Main Street program in downtown Van Wert.
Myers explained, “We knew Seth would not be with us for a long period of time. He and his wife have recently purchased their first home in Van Wert and are expecting their first child in May. He needs a full time position. The Van Wert County Foundation is a perfect opportunity for him. We wish him the very best. He has done great work for us”.
Baker’s last day at WAEDC will be Thursday, December 19. WAEDC is currently accepting resumes for Assistant Director. Deadline for submission is Thursday, November 21. For more information visit www.whywapakoneta.com or call 419-738-6807.
