The Wapakoneta Area Economic Development Council Annual Meeting held Friday afternoon featured a guest speaker who has more than 30 years experience in corporate consulting.
Don Schjeldahl, founder of the Don Schjeldahl Group, spoke to WAEDC members and local community leaders about his experience in corporate location strategy and property selection, and how a town like Wapakoneta can best prepare itself for industries looking to expand into other regions.
As a corporate consultant, Schjeldahl has been involved in more than 300 location strategy assignments for companies in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Europe.
After 27 years working for the Austin Company, a consulting firm based in Cleveland, Schjeldahl decided he wanted to use his knowledge of corporate site selection to help local economic development leaders.
“I realized I have a lot to give to the economic development community,” Schjeldahl said. “I love to turn this knowledge into good.”
The speech Schjeldahl gave at the WAEDC meeting was titled, “The Mechanics of Site Selection,” which gave the audience insight into what companies are looking for in a town that has been selected as a potential job site.
