THE WDI of West Ohio, Inc. will be offering a robotics course and a welding course in the fall. The robotics course is a 3 week program that will run from Tuesday, September 25th through October 11th. The welding course will begin on Monday, October 22nd, running for 7 weeks until mid-December.
Borth programs utilize the Tri Star Career Compact Dennings Building. "Partnering with Tri Start Career Compact and St. Marys Schools (for the use of the Dennings Building) for our training programs has been a great benefit and provides great success for our initiatives", stated Angela Hamberg, director of the WDI. Hamberg continued, "This is a great example of collaboration benefitting our local companies and communities. Working together provides a win-win for all."
The robotics course is a 30-hour course that takes 3 weeks to complete, held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. The course is a blended-learning curriculum, with lectur and hands-on instruction. At the end of the course, successful candidates will earn an industry CERT (Certified Education Robot Training) qualification. The seating is limited to 10 candidates. The cost of the robotics course is $575.
The welding course is a 90-hour course that takes 7 weeks to completed, held Monday-Thursday. It is a self-paced course with hands-on welding experience and some bookwork (safety, learning symbols, etc.). At the end of the course successful candidates receive a completion certificate that is recognized by area companies. "Our welding program was designed to provide safety education, basic foundation and hands-on experience. Earning a certificate in this course proves that a candidate has met that critieria and has ample hands-on experience to hone their skill. Nearly 90% of the candidates are hired in a welding position at area companies either before completing the course or shortly after. A few have chosen to further their welding training by pursuing AWS certification." explained Hamberg. The seating is limited to 10 candidates. The cost of the welding course is $900.
